| Gulf Dieselmotive oils are high quality zinc-free, crankcase oils formulated to provide outstanding service in a wide range of medium speed, high output diesel engines operating on fuels with sulphur levels upto 1% by wt. This product has been specially developed to lubricate General Motors EMD engines fitted with silver-alloy bearings for which zinc free lubricants are required. 473 Series are 13 TBN Generation 4 Oils and 573 Series are 17 TBN Generation 5 level oils. All have less than 10 ppm of Zinc and are low chlorine (less than 2500 ppm). All grades with a 'TF" are multigrade oils made to a viscometrics of SAE 20W40 and others are made to SAE 40 viscometric grade. |
| Gulf Dieselmotive oils are blended from high quality base oils together with highly effective detergents and dispersants to provide protection against sludge and deposit formation in diesel engines. The combination of these high quality base oils and additives also minimises combustion chamber deposits, piston ring groove and piston undercrown deposits. |
| They meet the requirements of API CD, Transportation Systems Division of General Electric (GE), Electro-Motive Division of General Motors (GM), Locomotive Maintenance Officers Association (LMOA) Generation 4 Long-Life and Generation 5. They have been approved by GM as WOFT. |
| Application Requirements |
| In many locations, high sulfur distillate type fuels are common and this creates severe operating conditions. Fuel sulphur corrosion can promote excessive wear of cylinder liners, piston rings, valve guides, bearing, cams and tappets, etc. Gulf Dieselmotive are formulated to provide a high level of alkalinity, thus effectively nuetralizing the acids formed under these operating conditions. Gulf Dieselmotive 473, a fourth generation oil, has a TBN of 13 and can be used with fuels containing upto 1 % by wt. of sulfur. Excellent TBN retention properties enable this alkalinity to be maintained over extensive service intervals. |

| Gulf Dieselmotive oils may be used in a wide range of applications including drilling rigs, locomotives and stationary engines used for power generation, compressors, pumps, etc. These oils are also suitable for a wide range of marine applications, including tugboats and workboats. They provide superior deposit and wear control in EMD, General Electric, Bombardier, Caterpillar and other medium speed diesel engines. Gulf Dieselmotive 473 is also approved for Detroit Diesel 2 stroke diesel engines having valve distress problems. |
