RESIDENCY TRAINING PROGRAM
The Medical City Residency Training Program in Psychiatry is 3-year intensive specialty training in the field of General Psychiatry. It has received full 3-year accreditation from the Committee on Accreditation of the Philippine Psychiatric Association during the years: 1995, 1998, 2001, 2004 and 2007.
The Program reflects the philosophy of The Medical City and aims to provide for opportunities: to achieve professional competencies of both trainees and trainers, and to deliver the best health care, where patients are partners.
The trainees undergo structured programs that aim to sharpen their competency in diagnostic formulation and in the application of the most effective therapeutic approaches. The biopsychosocial approach to understanding disease etiology, diagnosis and treatment is emphasized. Trainees are assigned specific duties and responsibilities. They are assisted in the acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes deemed necessary to become leaders, clinicians, researchers, teachers and advocates in the field of mental health.
FELLOWSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM
Consultation-Liaison (CL) Psychiatry Training Program
The Consultation-Liaison (CL) Fellowship Training Program is a 2-year course under the Department of Psychiatry of the Medical City. The fellow must develop specific clinical knowledge regarding the psychiatric care of medically ill or physically disabled to include diagnostic skills, consultation and evaluative techniques, alternative models of crisis intervention and application of time-limited psychotherapy
